Unable to add page numbers to citation

Already skimmed through a couple of other threads on this topic, but none of the proposed solutions seem to fix the problem.

So I'm trying to cite a journal article in ACS style, which according to this link (https://pubs.acs.org/doi/full/10.1021/acsguide.40303) should include the page numbers of the article in the journal. However, both in modern and classic view, I can add page numbers all I want, but they never actually show up in the bibliography. I've tried a single page, a page range, pages that are out of the range that is actually used in the journal, and nothing seems to work. Anyone got any ideas?
  • This just works out of the box:

Can you be more specific, exact examples, screenshots of what you're trying to achieve?
  • Ah right, this seems to clear up some of the problem: Zotero didn't import a page range, but only the amount of pages (which coincidentally is also the upper limit of the range). So instead of 1-11 in the circled box in your image, it only showed 11.

So now it does show 1-11 in the actual bibliography, but I still can't seem to specify the page range from 2-4 for example, is this even possible?
  • There is a difference between citing within a text and the bibliography at the end. In (to my knowledge) all citation styles, the bibliography at the end should show the page range of the full article, and this is what you write into the zotero entry, in the righthand column under "pages".
If you quote from an article within a text as in (Junade, 2010, p. 4), then you do this in zotero by using the word plugin (or plugin for whatever other word processor you are using), where you can then specify the page you are citing from.
    see here: https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_usage
  • The specific page or page-range (the 'locator' in Zotero parlance) is not cited anywhere in most numeric styles like ACS -- the respective styleguides just don't describe a way to do so.
  • It seems you are right, thanks for the clarification!
