How can I transfer my Zotero account to a successor?

Because I'm leaving my job as research assistant in may, how can I transfer my Zotero account to my successor?

I have seen that there is the possibility to make him also an admin, but if possible, I would like to transfer my account completely.

Thank you for your help,
Marianne
  • You can transfer ownership of a group from the group's profile settings.

    https://www.zotero.org/groups/ > Manage Profile > Transfer Ownership

If you actually mean to transfer your personal library as well and don't plan to use Zotero in the future, it is possible to change both the username and email address on your account from the account settings. That would require that the other user does not already have a Zotero account that they plan to use.

Generally I would recommend having them register a Zotero account and transferring ownership of any groups you want. You can create a new group and drag all items in your personal library to it if you do want to transfer that as well. If you then no longer want your Zotero account to exist you can permanently delete it from the account settings.
  • Thank you so much!
  • Follow-up question on this issue of transferring accounts. I transferred ownership of a group to myself as Admin and removed some one from the group. The previous group owner that was removed can still see the group files in their library even though they are no longer a member of the group. Why is that happening?

If you're referring to the desktop app, they'd have to sync after being removed from the group.
