Upgrade StorageMissing Characters and Symbols in integrated PDF viewer across the MacOS ecosystem

this is something that is driving me crazy for a while. I use Zotero on both my MacBook Air (M2) and iPad, both affected by the same issue - making it impossible to use Zotero as intended.
On many pdfs, a lot of characters and symbols are not displayed and simply missing (in-place missing) and replaced by a whitespace seemingly. Especially "A"'s seem to consistently be affected; see the screenshot below:

For comparison, when opening the same paper through the Finder in Apple's Preview App:

On my MacBook I have tried both, Zotero 6.0.37 and the Zotero 7.0.0. Both equally affected by the issue. On my iPad it is the same problem.
