Zotero 7 beta: No captcha window to save ScienceDirect PDFs

I am not able to retrieve PDF files published on the ScienceDirect site (e.g., Elsevier journals) with Zotero 7 beta because no captcha window is appearing. Any ideas on what could be the problem and how I could fix this issue?
  • Do you get no captcha window at all, just a cross in the progress dialog in your browser? What URL are you saving from? Could you submit a Debug ID from Zotero for an attempted save (after refreshing the page)?
  • Thanks for your reply. Correct, I do not get a catcha window at all, just a cross and the message 'No PDF found'. I am experiencing the issue with all URLs that lead to the ScienceDirect site. For troubleshooting purposes, I now tried to find the PDF for: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.pubrev.2023.102416. The Debug ID is: D167255603.
  • For me, sometimes it pops up a window with the following information from science direct:

  • @adamsmith @AbeJellinek it seems like there may be a translator issue when adding the item via DOI magic wand where no PDF attachments are detected in Zotero in addition to the captcha window not working when saving via the Zotero Connector
  • (Abe will need to take this one -- the SD translator is at his point above my head, or at least above what I'm willing to wrap my head around)
  • @brbrug, @Gregregweix: Please try beta 74.
  • The issue is fixed, thank you! (for some PDFs I do have to click the find PDF button several times before it is found but that is ok)
