Duplicate Items problem

There are two documents that are repeated in the ”Duplicate Items“, but they are not duplicate, but they have the same topic, and they are a scientific paper and dissertation by the same author. When choosing to merge duplicate Items, prompt "Merged items must all be of the same item type."

By the way, what do you mean saying "they are not duplicate"? Are the original papers behind these Zotero items different papers? If they links to the same original paper but were recognized as items of different types you should select that of incorrect type (to select just an item of interest you might try to select/deselect while pressing Ctrl button) and change the type to make items consistent in type.
If the papers are of different origin, you might go by changing titles and DOI for Zotero to recognize them as separate items.

The original papers behind these Zotero items are different papers, one is Journal Article, and one is Thesis, and they are different original paper, But they are written by the same author and have the same title, as they are recognised as duplicate items.

This is an issue that still hasn't been improved in the latest version(7.0.3). Hopefully this can be optimized.
