Smart search: Show items with missing date

How do you do a smart search for items with missing date?

[Date] [is] []

doesn't seem to work.

    I'm not aware of anything that'll work. You know you can just sort empty dates to the top, right?

    Edit: actually -- if you create a saved search for
    Date -- is in the last -- 5000 years
    Create a saved search and then
    create a saved search for
    Collection -- is not -- that saved search

    that seems to work to show all empty or invalid dates

    Ahhh, that's helpful, thank you.

    To the 2nd search, I added item type is not attachment, to just get the top level item types. (Show only top top level item types doesn't work.)
