Adding Public, Closed Membership group to library?

Hi
How can I add a Public, Closed Membership group to my Library (e.g. https://www.zotero.org/groups/2333079/ipbes_scenarios-models_assessment)?

I do not want to join as I do not want to have write access, but I would like to have all new edits and additions (i.e. a kind of read-only syncing.

    Unless the requesting group administrator sets it to public open, it won't work as of now.
    After the administrator changes it to public open, it can be set so that administrators are allowed to edit it and members are only allowed to read it.

    The idea is to have one group with pdfs attached. These pdfs are available for everybody who is a member but not to non-members. That works. But now we I would like to have this (let's call it "read only sync").

    And this is not possible. Do I understand you right @northword?

    Not currently possible. I *think* I recall devs saying it is planned
