Could Zotero 7 automatically identify and notice the new-added item duplictaed?

Because of the unique DOI attached to the specific PDF article, and we often forgot which items had been added long time ago. Thus, could Zotero smartly notice us when prepairing added the new-duplicted item into the collection?? Otherwise, we needed again and again to find and merge dupicated items use plug-in by ourselves. So tired, each time it seem reminded me of my stupidity for my duplicate added items.

I'm pretty sure this functionality will be added to Zotera at some point. I think the main reason why it isn't included yet is that it will take a while to discuss what "smartly" means in this context :-)

Hi,

I have developed an add-on to detect duplicates when **importing** new items.

It supports Zotero 6 and 7. A dialog will pop up if the newly imported item already exists in the library.
