How can I make 'extra' field empty for newly added items?

I want to use 'extra' field to make my own notes. However, when I import some journals, they comes with some useless texts in the field.

Is there any way to make the field empty whenever I add new items?
Or can I add a new field for my personal note?

    The metadata that is imported to the extra field will be useful when using many of the citation styles. You shouldn't delete this information to put just anything there.

    Zotero offers a dedicated notes field.

    From Zotero documentation:
    The Extra field can be used for storing custom item metadata or data that doesn't have a dedicated field in Zotero. If you need to cite an item using a field not supplied by Zotero, you can also store such data in Extra. See Citing Fields from Extra for more details on how to cite these fields. For example, to add a DOI to a Book Section item, add this to the top of Extra: DOI: 10.1234/567890
  • Thanks for the information. I didn't know that. Then, is there any chance to add a new field (eg. zotero extension)?

    @sinclair01

    Reread my [[edited]] comment. Zotero has a dedicated notes field.
