Abbreviate first name to 2 letters

Writing my phd thesis, I had the following problem. The authors' first names are abbreviated to one letter. But some authors need two letters, not one. For example:
- Szuromi, Szabolcs in abbreviated form is Szuromi, Sz. and not Szuromi, S.
- Delhaye, Philippe in abbreviated form is Delhaye, Ph. and not Delhaye, P.

I found a solution for LaTeX and bibtex. If I type the name like this {\relax Sz}abolcs, it gives the requested result. But it does not work here. Is there any solution?

Thx in advance.

I think that in names, you can force first names like Philippe to be abbreviated to Ph by capitalizing the letters you want to have used as the initials, so PHilippe. Better BibTeX will pick that up and export that to {\relax Ph}ilippe for BibTeX, given-i for BibLaTeX. I don't know what the standard Zotero BibTeX export does.
  • PHilippe and SZuromi will also work with Zotero's word processor plugins.
  • Thank you. It works for styles where the first name has to be abbreviated. Where the full name has to be typed out, it causes problems. For me this is now a solution, thank you.
  • It causes problems where?
