I have added "Issued: 2020-05-26" in the Extra field. When using Elsevier - Harvard (with titles), the work around still showed "n.d." in my citation. When using University of Brighton School of Environment and Technology - Harvard, the work around shows the date in my citation.
Shame there isn't just a date field though.
"adamsmith March 27, 2017 not really, lot's of moving part. More than 3 months, less than 3 years?"
No, uppercase should work, and if it gets picked up by any style, the data entry isn't the issue. @Snowflake Have you tried in a new document with Elsevier Harvard?
Just checked, it does word with Elsevier Harvard in a new document.
An unnecessary faff, all the same... to be halfway through a 10,000 word essay, to have to transfer all of my work, so far, into a new document, to be able to get one of the citations (the only podcast citation) to work.
I have already set up all my document formatting in my essay, so I will stick with the Brighton Harvard this time.
Hey, are there any plans to add a publication date field for podcast types in the near future? My web app connects Zotero with its API but I can't retrieve podcasts by publication date as there is no such field.
In the future, yes; near future -- that depends on what you mean by that and exact timing is unclear. Good chance it'll happen this calendar year, but no promises.
Can anybody please help me citing a podcast in Zotero version 7.0.0-beta.51+7c5600913 on Big Sur 11.7.10?
I am using APA 7. Luckily, I have the field "Series Title", but I do not have "Title". Also, I have the fields for Podcaster and Guest. I Fixed the date problem by using "Issued" in the Extra field, which worked so far, but Zotero doesn't even include the podcast in the bibliography.
I am a plus one on adding Date into the Podcast field of APA. I am on the beta 7 in MacSequoia and no date fields exists. I imagine it being a super simple fix up.
Can someone comment on their practice for adding podcast info into Zotero right now? Especially:
* Date? How do you handle date? Add it to the "Extra" field as "Date: YYYY-MM-DD"? Or, edit "Accessed" field to be the date the podcast was posted, relying on your "Date Added" field to approximate date accessed?
* Podcasts guests? They're usually in the podcast episode title string. E.g., "Stephen Kotkin on Stalin, Power, and the Art of Biography | Conversations with Tyler". But man, it would be so nice to have "Guests" as its own field, rather than relying on them appearing in the title (which they often don't!) or adding something like "Guest: Stephen Kotkin" to the "Extra" field.
* Best site for metadata? I imagine https://podcastindex.org/ would be it. But Zotero doesn't work with them yet. Spotify and YouTube (when there's a vid version of the podcast) have been the best for me so far. Apple Podcasts isn't so good.

Any thoughts on a lad time for this?
