add bibliography

I want to add a bibliography, but when I press the symbol "add/edit bibliography" I'm only able to edit and I can't add one. I have a windows laptop.

    Does this work in a fresh document with just a couple of citations inserted?

    To be clear, clicking Add/Edit Bibliography will show the Edit Bibliography window if a bibliography is already present in the document. If you can't find it, you can toggle Word field codes and search for ZOTERO_BIBL. Move the bibliography to where you want it or, if it's not updating properly, delete it completely and reinsert it where you want it.
