My main bib. tool at the moment is JabRef, and I really like
its interface -- in this instance the point is that the information
I really want in the middle display window is
Year Published is already an option—click on the right-most icon in the table header to select other fields. You can change the order just be dragging a column name to another location.
You're right -- I just upgraded from b3r1 to b5r4 and now
see "Year Published" (but still not Publication or Journal Abbr
as the main topic of this thread suggests).
Also, unfortunately, my Zotero database got trashed
in upgrading -- kind of glad I haven't gone to Zotero as
my primary bib information yet ... (you'll see a pile of
bug reports -- until I moved my zotero folder out from under
it, every time I re-opened Firefox it would generate another
bug report)

Please see the note on the Known Issues page. Your database is most likely fine, and we can rebuild it for you if you send it to us (or upload it somewhere).

entry type, author (1, 2, or "et al", title, pub year, journal
would be lovely to be able to change the order as well!

Doing research, in my point of view, knowing where a research article is published is very beneficial.
