Backspace key behavior

edited September 21, 2023
It is a terrible thing that Backspace key supports delete characters and delete annotations. For example, you want rewrite an annotation with a new thought and delete all characters, if you hold Backspace key for deleting all characters, you will find you need to rehighlight the texts.
  • In my opinion, it is incosistent and it "steal" the job of Delete key.

Could you clarify the problematic sequence for you?
if you hold Backspace key for deleting all characters, you will find you need to rehighlight the texts
In order to delete all characters in a comment to an annotation, you first need to click on the comment to enter the edit mode and then delete the characters. If you keep pressing the backspace key in the edit mode, it should simply stops at the beginning of the comment and should not delete the annotation.
  • There was a time when hitting backspace too many times would delete the annotation.
