How many articles in 300 MB

Quick question:
How many articles will 300 MB of Zotero storage provide?

    This is all based on the size of the attachments, principally PDFs, so really, really depends on what you're saving. I'd guess that 1MB per PDF is a reasonable average for academic work -- that'd give you 250-300 articles -- but I've also seen anything between 150kb and 10MB for fairly standard pieces, which means the range is really anyhwere between 30 and 2,000.

    Is there no limit to the amount of references?

    No, storage is only for syncing attachments. You can sync any number of references for free and you can store any number of item with attachments *locally* for free.
    (There's a technical limit at some point -- depending on your computer, that's likely going to be somewhere between 50,000 and 500,000 items)
