keeping original format when pasting into notes.

How do you keep the original format when copying text into notes? It seems to work fine if copying from a website, but if copying from a pdf in zotero in just adds it as a plan text citation
  • What formats do you expect to be preserved?
  • simple stuff, like headings, bullet points etc.
If I cut and paste from another pdf reader, the layout is mostly kept, but as plan text. If its a zotero pdf - its plain text, no spacing (ie with bullet points) with citations but no formatting

web sites keep most of the formatting style (layout etc)

  • @PeteGeorge Could you show an example screenshot of pasted content that involves all your mentioned formatting options. What PDF reader are you using?
  • I am using the PDF reader built in.

  • Ok, we'll try to improve this. However, inserted annotations must remain single-lined.

    Thanks.
I forgot to meantion that the cut paste feature from other PDF readers, into notes on zotero does work. It just when it pastes from the zotero reader with the citation.

  • Hi I'm having the same issue losing rich text formatting when I copy and paste in from Google Docs (which I have open in my Chrome browser). Is there a setting I can change to fix this?
  • Hej Ben. I never got an answer to my issue, but it seems that the zotero pdf reader only deals with plain text, and ignores all formatting. This also seems to be true when cut and paste from zotero pdf to say word or google docs. I don't have the issue the other way around, cutting from google docs into zotero notes that you describe - it formats correctly for me. cutting from zotero notes to google docs or word works ok if word is set up for markdown formatting. Hope this helps!
