Cannot save pdf file

This has been confused me for a long time. I cannot save the pdf file by simply clicking on the Zotero Connect. In contrast, I can only download the pdf myself and import it into Zotero, which is is too much trouble.

  • Meaning when you save from the article page you get a red X for the PDF or it doesn't appear at all in the save popup?
  • That's not true. The article information can be saved normally. But it does not work for the pdf file. I have read the log file. The url of pdf can be generated normally, but I haven't found out why the savie step for the pdf file always fails.
  • But I'm asking what you're actually seeing on your screen. Do you see a red X next to the PDF in the save popup, or do you not see the PDF listed at all?
  • Just like you said. I can see the PDF list with a red X next to the PDF.

OK, be sure to always say exactly what you see on screen — otherwise we just have to guess what you mean.

So if you see a red X next to the PDF in the save popup, we'd want to see a Debug ID from Zotero — not the Zotero Connector — for the save attempt. Be sure to reload the page before saving.
  • Apologies for my mistake. I have submitted the Debug file from Zotero, whose id is D1148899936
  • It looks like your Zotero may be connecting via a proxy server.

Assuming you have access to the PDF on the site itself, the proxy server might not be properly forwarding all aspects of the original request (e.g., cookies), causing the site to return the article page itself instead of the PDF.

I'm able to save from that IEEEXplore page and get a PDF, so it's not any sort of general problem.
  • Thank you so so so much!! I find that I added a rule to ieeexplore.com to use proxy server. I have deleted this and everything is back to normal.
