Survey of Ophthalmology Style Request
Hi there
I wish I could accomplish on my own but I am trying to update the Survey of Ophthalmology citation style in the current repository. I believe their style has been updated since this style was uploaded for use. I think the only issue with current format is the journal in italics and not consistently making the authors convert et al with >3 authors in the list.
The basics are
1. Vancouver style in the references
2. alphabetical
3. superscript citation
Please use the Vancouver format when formatting your references. "In press" articles may be included; the journal must be specified. Use Index Medicus style of abbreviation, and punctuation. Some typical examples follow; note the absence of periods after initials and abbreviations. When there are 5 or more authors, name the first three, and use "et al" to indicate additional authors.
Here is an example of how I would prefer it.
Ferguson TJ, Wiley WF. Anterior Capsulotomy Innovations and Techniques. Current Ophthalmology Reports. 2019 Dec;7:233-40
Agresta B, Knorz MC, Kohnen T, et al. Distance and near visual acuity improvement after implantation of multifocal intraocular lenses in cataract patients with presbyopia: a systematic review. Journal of Refractive Surgery. 2012;28(6):426e35.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Guide for authors: https://www.elsevier.com/journals/survey-of-ophthalmology/0039-6257/guide-for-authors
I misspoke regarding the citation within the text of the manuscript. It should be a parentheses.
Example: Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of global vision impairmentA and the second most common cause of blindness globally (86).
Our SoO style is currently just a dependent style of AMA.
This just looks like normal Vancouver, as mentioned in their guidelines, and we have that available here: http://www.zotero.org/styles/vancouver
I'll submit a Pull Request to update the dependent style. (https://github.com/citation-style-language/styles/pull/6460)
https://www.zotero.org/styles?q=id:survey-of-ophthalmology
Can someone guide me on editing the citation format of this style so that it'll return superscripts without parentheses?
Apparently, this is the mandated citation format for this journal ...
I did try Vancouver (superscript) but the problem is the alphabetical order of the references ...
For you to understand, instead of explaining you how to make a change and then leaving an outdated style on the repository and have someone else come and ask the same question in 3 months again, it obviously makes sense to fix this on the repository for all users. So I've submitted a fix after having checked the requirement is actually correct.
