Attach epub files

Epub is taking off in academic publishing. Full support worluld be best, but even ability to attach epub files would be helpful.

Using iOS app on iOS 16.2 on iPhone 13.

You can add .epub (at least) in the desktop version.

Although the team knows of the feature request for epub support, nothing happens for years - you have to say it this way. You can read this topic for more: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/90368/feature-request-zotero-beta-windows-ios-beta-ipad-epub-reading#latest

A lot of people are saying you can import epubs on the desktop app.
I have the osx version and I cant find any way to do this.
I've tried dragging, importing, and even attaching the stored copy.
How do we import epubs?

You can drag an epub like any other type of file into the desktop Zotero app. What exactly happens when you try?

@bwiernik Thanks for getting back to me.

If I drag and drop the epub, nothing happens. No error message. It just doesn't appear in the file list.

If I go "File->Import" and select an epub menu I get the error:
"The selected file is not in a supported format."

Note I get the same error, if I copy or link the file.

I'm using Zotero 6.0.26 on OSX.

Import isn’t for attachments. It’s not relevant here.

Can you submit a debug ID of an attempt to drag and drop an epub?

When I tried to import the files into calibre, I got also errors.
So I've done some digging, and apparently Mac books can mess with the ePub format so your files arent real epubs anymore but directories with an epub extension.

Yes. You can tell if an epub is a file or a folder by right-clicking on it. If it says Show Package Contents, it's a folder.
