Linking pdfs via drag and drop - how do I do that?

I'm relatively new to Zotero. I have several hundred pdfs that I would like to link to in zotero. Is there a way to drag and drop those pdfs into zotero but have them linked to rather than imported?

    it's not currently possible.

    I use to drag and drop PDF files present on my hardrive; in this case I already have the reference as an item in Zotero, and I drop the (right) file on it.
    If I understand your question well, as only seeking convenience no to right click on an item and then searching the right file on your disk, but using drag and drop, this is the way I do.
