I'm not sure if I am clear in asking my question. Please see citation numbers in a paragraph in my manuscript. The numbers need to be in superscript form and not in ( ) as part of the body of the text. Removable partial dentures (RPDs) as replacements for missing teeth contribute to an improved oral health related quality of life. This is especially true if implant supported or fixed dental prostheses are not an option due to limited availability of bone, abutment teeth or financial constraints (1). Cast removable partial dentures (CRPDs) serve as an effective replacement for missing teeth and are associated with high compliance rates of wear (2) with a 5 year survival rate of 96.4% and a 10 year survival rate up to 89.8%. (3)
Done that. Also re-saved document in WORD. But it hasn’t updated to the new style. Is my only choice now to unlink citations and manually superscript each one?
No, typically this will just work and you should definitely not unlink. Have you tried switching to a completely different style like American Psychological Association to see if that works?
It works with other styles except the American journal of geriatric psychiatry recommended above. I am getting an error message that 'Zotero was unable to update the document" I need the citations superscripted. Any other style recommendations?
You can try https://www.zotero.org/styles?q=id:sage-vancouver but I wouldn't be surprised if the superscripting might trigger the error in your document. Which word processor are you in? Is this Word or Google docs?
I am using WORD- not google docs. Sage Vancouver doesnt work either. I am getting an error message. It seems that the superscripting is triggering the error message. What other options can you suggest?
We have several hundred available. Which journal are you submitting to?

And to be sure, this is the window you're looking at when you're changing the citation styles? https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_usage#document_preferences
This should and does work in general, so I'd expect this to be one specific citation or the like that's breaking this.
