Science Advances & PNAS epdf format

While saving the epdf (who in academia wants a fancy epdf instead of a simple pdf format?) from Sci Adv and PNAS, Zotero is creating some form of metafile and not the usual "journal article" file format. I am really annoyed because these cannot be sorted date-wise along with other documents. In addition, it attaches the preprint document as the pdf and not the final paper. Is Zotero planning to fix the problem?

I think the question is about saving from an epdf page such as
https://www.science.org/doi/epdf/10.1126/sciadv.abn5697

I don't think there's a decent way for us to get at the metadata here, so the advice would be (as it is generally for Zotero) to save from the abstract/landing page, not the PDF/ePDF page.
