Bionic Reading for Zotero?

I hope we get the bionic reading feature integrated into Zotero. It’s a really neat feature for heavy readers.

Check it out in this link!

  • This is very unlikely to be implemented by Zotero itself, but could potentially be implemented as a plugin made by a user. Note that the claims made by Bionic Reading developers are scientifically very dubious and contradict well-established findings from reading comprehension research (eg, it is generally impossible to increase both reading speed and reading comprehension simultaneously). See, eg, https://qz.com/2182666/does-bionic-reading-work-typographers-and-scientists-weigh-in/ for a discussion
  • I cannot comment of the state of the literature and the potential contradictions it may pose, but I can speak of my own experience. Doing research with ADHD does bring in its own challenges, among them reading large bodies of texts and not being able to stay on the same line of text, making the reading process cumbersome at times. I have found it easier to read with this type of feature because there is something to focus on. For users that are conducting research and using Zotero as their key reader, this feature would benefit those who do need more assistance focussing in a sea of text.
