PDFs with a large number of pages open very slowly

Zotero is always very laggy when opening PDFs of more than 300 pages. Is there any way to solve it?

    I suppose it depends on file size but I often open large PDF's (600 pages) and it works very fast (and am loving the new reader and tabs!)

    We can reproduce the issue. Something in the PDF pages is significantly affecting rendering performance. The issue will be fixed later this year when we upgrade our underlying libraries.

    Some pdfs can be open very fast others maybe never. Zotero open a 390 mb pdf that has 1645 pages in 3 seconds, but it can't open some searchable or scanned pdf files of 600mb or 800mb that have 200 pages. It stucks at 'loading' and nothing happens. But it also open a searchable pdf of 715mb that has 580 pages.

    I have a 935 MB pdf that has 593 pages and Zotero can't open it even after 3 hours of waiting.
