A similar issue may be connected: I often select some text before navigating elsewhere (eg to endnotes or an index), and then shift+arrow returns me to selection (by changing the selection). This doesn't work in the Zotero pdf reader (I know I can just use alt+left arrow to go back, but just wanted to point this out).
