sorting items between collections

Is their a workflow that allows efficient copying (and moving) items from one collection to another? I use collections a lot for organizing and searching for items and misfiling leads to not finding those items (or finding irrelevant items).

Items can exist in more than one collection (or not in any collection). Items can be moved from collection to collection. Items can be removed from a collection without deleting the item from your library. edit: Items can be copied from a collection to another while keeping the item in the original collection.

The only way I see to move an item from one collection to another is to 1) copy (drag item from middle pane) to new collection (left pane) and then 2) right click-remove item from (current) collection.

This workflow is good for reorganizing an item into a new collection I guess.

To move items between collections, hold down Cmd (Mac) or Shift (Windows/Linux) when dragging items to the new collection.
