CMS multiple entries by date

Hello,

I'm formatting a CMS bibliography for a publisher and they want all multiple entries for an author arranged by date of publication rather than title. Is this possible?

That is certainly possible, but you'd need to change the citation style.

Assuming you use the Chicago full note style, you'd search for this part:

    <sort>
      <key macro="contributors-sort"/>
      <key variable="title"/>
      <key variable="genre"/>
      <key variable="issued"/>
    </sort>

and switch it to the following:


    <sort>
      <key macro="contributors-sort"/>
      <key variable="issued"/>
      <key variable="title"/>
      <key variable="genre"/>
    </sort>
