Unable to select footnote

Hi, does anyone know why the footnote tab preference is missing in my Zotero?
I'm trying to add footnote citations but cannot find the selection of footnote from 'document preference'. I am using Zotero for Mac.
Thanks a lot in advance.

That is set by the citation style you use.
Select a note style like Chicago and when you click on add/edit citation it will automatically insert a footnote.

Thank you very much for your reply. But it did not turn up even if I selected a Chicago-full note. Do you know why?

Open a new document, select Chicago full note, insert a citation. Does that work?

It sounds like you flattened the citations in your original document.
