JACC

Any one know how to get a citation style for the journal of the american college of cardiology?

I'd guess it'd be close to NLM - there is a second NLM style in the repository, that's not installed by default with Zotero - work off that one - it's the corrected version.

If it uses a standard medical style, there are several fully supported and listed at the Styles repository
    including the AMA and Vancouver.

If they have their own unique style, there are instructions on how to request a new style here: http://www.zotero.org/support/requesting_styles

If an endnote style exists, then it is possible to use that within Zotero 2.0 Beta. However, depending on what you click when you download it, this may be illegal...
(if you downloaded it a few years ago back when you didn't have to click anything, then it's kinda unclear where you stand)
  • YEs it is similar to other medical journals. Very similoar to JAMA, but in the bibliography the tital of the journal is not in italics and there is no period after journal title. In the citation the number is not supercripted, rather it is in parenthesis (1).

See weblink to the info for author page or pasted below.

    thanks!

Use Index Medicus (National Library of Medicine) abbreviations for journal titles. It is important to note that when citing an article from the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, the correct citation format is J Am Coll Cardiol.

Use the following style and punctuation for references:

    Periodical

List all authors if six or fewer, otherwise list the first three and add the et al.; do not use periods after the authors' initials. Please provide inclusive page numbers as in example below.

    5. Glantz SA. It is all in the numbers. J Am Coll Cardiol 1993;21:835–7.

    Chapter in book

Provide inclusive page numbers, authors, chapter titles, book title, editor, publisher and year.

    27. Meidell RS, Gerard RD, Sambrook JF. Molecular biology of thrombolytic agents. In: Roberts R, editor. Molecular Basis of Cardiology. Cambridge, MA: Blackwell Scientific Publications, 1993:295–324.

    Book (personal author or authors)

Provide a specific (not inclusive) page number.

    23. Cohn PF. Silent Myocardial Ischemia and Infarction. 3rd ed. New York, NY: Marcel Dekker, 1993:33.

    Online Media

Provide specific URL address and date information was accessed.
    10. Henkel J. Testicular Cancer: Survival High With Early Treatment. FDA Consumer magazine [serial online]. January–February 1996. Available at: http://www.fda.gov/fdac/features/196_test.html. Accessed August 31, 1998.

Material presented at a meeting but not published

Provide authors, presentation title, full meeting title, meeting dates, and meeting location.
    20. Eisenberg J. Market forces and physician workforce reform: why they may not work. Paper presented at: Annual Meeting of the Association of Medical Colleges; October 28, 1995; Washington, DC.
  • could you make sure that these
YEs it is similar to other medical journals. Very similoar to JAMA, but in the bibliography the tital of the journal is not in italics and there is no period after journal title. In the citation the number is not supercripted, rather it is in parenthesis (1).
are really all the differences between JAMA (Vancouver) and JACC.
Going through the style guide and identifying differences is 80% of the work - since I'll never ever use JACC this is something you'll have to do - as thoroughly as possible.
I'll be happy to change the code for you then.
  • Thanks I went through the JACC site and JAMA zotero citation carefully. the differences are:
1 JACC wants non superscriped citations in the text with numbers in parenthesis like this (1, 22).
    2. For journal articles, JACC does not put the name of the abreviated journal title in italics. there is no punctuation or period after the journal title name.
    so like
    1. Glantz SA. It is all in the numbers. J Am Coll Cardiol 1993;21:835–7.

    3. For book chapter. There is a coma instead of a ; after publisher name. The word editor is spelled out.
    like

    27. Meidell RS, Gerard RD, Sambrook JF. Molecular biology of thrombolytic agents. In: Roberts R, editor. Molecular Basis of Cardiology. Cambridge, MA: Blackwell Scientific Publications, 1993:295–324.

    5. for online media. There is a period after the web address. No brackets around the words [Accessed on September 16, 2009] so like

    10. Henkel J. Testicular Cancer: Survival High With Early Treatment. FDA Consumer magazine [serial online]. January–February 1996. Available at: http://www.fda.gov/fdac/features/196_test.html. Accessed August 31, 1998.

    6. Entire Book. The book title is not in italics.

Both journals want you to include all authors if there are 6 or less. If there are more than 6 then the first three should be listed followed by et al.

    Thanks!!

    Thanks, that was easy.
The Journal should show up in the repository soon (there is currently a different Journal of the American College of Cardiology - the new one will have a recent time stamp, the old one is dated 2008 - and was just a link to vancouver)
Until then you can download the style directly from here
    https://www.zotero.org/trac/export/5132/csl/jacc.csl
and import by dragging to FF

    Please report any problems here.
