[bug/feature-request] Spellchecker and context menu disconnect in Notes
Report ID: 2050608992
I'm pretty sure this spelling feature is part of whatever web view client your using, and it's probably not there because you are overwriting the context menu, but many technologies using this method still allow some way to get the built in dictionary suggestions into a context menu or at least allow the "context menu" key on most keyboards to call the applications context menu instead of the webpages custom context menu (as a less optimal solution than patching in the dictionary fields into your context menu).
ALSO when typing this out I got a bunch of these error messages popping up on me:
Best,
Love zotero! So useful!
The Problem
When typing in certain text fields especially in the "Note" from the "Notes" tab, the text editor will highlight misspelled words with that red squiggly underline, but when you right click the word the context menu does not provide any suggestions ever.I'm pretty sure this spelling feature is part of whatever web view client your using, and it's probably not there because you are overwriting the context menu, but many technologies using this method still allow some way to get the built in dictionary suggestions into a context menu or at least allow the "context menu" key on most keyboards to call the applications context menu instead of the webpages custom context menu (as a less optimal solution than patching in the dictionary fields into your context menu).
Steps to reproduce:
- select a citation from the list in the center panel.
- in the right side panel click the "Notes" tab.
- select either the "new note" button (if no notes currently are attached to this entry)
- select the main text box, (the one with the formatting options at the top)
- type one correctly spelled word and one incorrectly spelled word, then another correctly spelled word, with at least one space after each word. (these extra words are sometimes necessary to trigger the spellchecker of the underlying system)
- you should see the red squiggly underline should appear under any misspelled words.
- place your curser somewhere inside the misspelled word
- right click anywhere in the misspelled word to get the context menu
- observe the lack of recommendations to replace the misspelled word in the context menu where you would expect them to be
Additional Notes
Anyway I'm not sure if this is so much a bug or just an oversight in features, since it seems really dumb to have a spellchecker but no automatic suggestions provided to replace misspelled words.ALSO when typing this out I got a bunch of these error messages popping up on me:
{"Code":256,"Exception":"","Class":"Gdn_ErrorException"}
