Word disabled Zotero

My Zotero tab disappeared from Word, and I have followed all the troubleshooting steps I could find, including uninstalling and reinstalling Zotero. The problem is that Word shows Zotero as a disabled plugin, and I don't know how to change it back to enabled. Right-clicking doesn't give any options. Any advice would be appreciated!

Is your problem the same as in this post or somehow different? If different, how? If the same, what have you tried?

Thanks for your reply! No, it has nothing to do with macros. The Zotero tab is missing in Word documents, and under "add-ins" it shows that Word has disabled the Zotero add-in.
I have followed the same troubleshooting steps as the poster you linked, to no avail. I need to know how to get Word to enable Zotero.

Update: I have managed to enable the Zotero add-in, but now it shows as inactive. I can start a Word doc with Zotero if I click the Zotero dotm file in the startup folder, but that doesn't help when I need Zotero in my existing documents.
So now I need to find a way to change the Zotero add-in from inactive to active.
