Is it possible to link citations in a Word document created without reference management software?

I have a 135-140 page Word document with about 265 footnotes. I need to link them to my Zotero library (possibly adding a number of the resources to my library in the process). Is there an automated way of doing this?

Responded on Twitter — if these are plain-text citations, there's no automated way, but you can use AnyStyle to try to import the items into Zotero. You’d then need to reinsert each one to continue using the Zotero plugin with the document.

They are plain text citations. IN the case of url's, the hyperlinks have been removed.
