Having trouble getting Zotero to install (install correctly) Mate 20.04

edited November 18, 2021
Hi

I am working on a new install of Matte 20.04 and am unable to get Zotero to install correctly.

For previous installs I have taken the simple path and used the commands provided in the deb instructions at https://github.com/retorquere/zotero-deb
Unfortunately this time it didn't work (I retried with fresh installs) and always returned the following errors
401 Unauthorized [IP: 185.199.109.133 443]

E: Failed to fetch https://objects.githubusercontent.com/github-production-release-asset-2e65be/153281752/78217453-f011-4a14-b123-b31c31945350?X-Amz-Algorithm=AWS4-HMAC-SHA256&X-Amz-Credential=AKIAIWNJYAX4CSVEH53A/20211118/us-east-1/s3/aws4_request&X-Amz-Date=20211118T044540Z&X-Amz-Expires=300&X-Amz-Signature=6eca65ecf89c09e37ab24f5bd38d12dd4ed8354d837bca0d3c710f49ac86271b&X-Amz-SignedHeaders=host&actor_id=0&key_id=0&repo_id=153281752&response-content-disposition=attachment; filename=zotero_5.0.96.3_amd64.deb&response-content-type=application/octet-stream 401 Unauthorized [IP: 185.199.109.133 443]

E: Unable to fetch some archives, maybe run apt-get update or try with –fix-missing?

So I then reverted to the method outlined in the guide at https://www.zotero.org/support/installation
This worked as expected except that I now have Zotero installed and launching from either the menu or a desktop shortcut, but it will not launch from a shortcut dragged to the top (or bottom) panel which is where the users of these computers expect it to be.

Any help -suggestions appreciated

Regards.
