Zotero Connector - Recognize “dre.pt” as Statute

DRE.pt is the electronic version of the Diário da República (Diary of the Republic), the official gazette of Portugal, where all legislation gets published. Each piece of legislation has a page with some meta-info, full-text and a link to the PDF version of that legislation (eg. https://dre.pt/web/guest/home/-/dre/159219301/details/maximized)

When I try to add something from there, the Zotero Connector only recognizes it as a simple web page. Is it possible to make it recognize this site as Statute item type?
  • It'd need a separate import script, but the site is pretty nice, so wouldn't be too hard.
Could you say what on that page would go into which field in Statute?
  • I'm likely not the best person to do this, since although I have to read and cite law with some frequency, this need is a bit recent and I'm not in law and I'm not well versed in it.

But I tried to make some suggestions.

What is the best way to post or link to pictures here? I made the suggestions on screenshots because I think it'll be easier to explain
  • Post to any free image hosting site (imgur.com, dropbox, google drive) and link to from here.
  • So, this likely will have errors, but my suggestion would be this (take this with a massive grain of salt):

    (original page: https://dre.pt/web/guest/pesquisa/-/search/159304335/details/normal?q=decreto+lei+18/2021)

Here is a “Summary in Plain Language” of the same law pictured above, side by side with the version in English, which maybe helps to correct the mistakes I’ll likely have made trying to match the fields.

Also, in the case it helps, here are examples of laws cited according to the NP 405 style (issued by the Portuguese Institute of Quality):

    ---
    DECRETO-LEI nº 301/02. D.R. Iª Série-A. 286 (2002-12-11) 7794.

DECRETO-LEI nº 243/86. D.R. Iª Série. 190 (1986.08.20) 2099-2106 - Aprova o Regulamento Geral de Higiene e Segurança do Trabalho nos Estabelecimentos de Escritórios e Serviços.

DECRETO nº 47.512/67. Diário do Governo. 21 Iª Série. (25-01-1967) 126-128 – Estabelece o Regulamento dos Serviços Médicos do Trabalho das Empresas.

    And in the Vancouver style:

    Hope this helps
  • Sorry for asking, but has there been any progress on this? I'm starting a new essay where I have to cite from dre.pt and Zotero still only recognizes it as a webpage.

Is there any other information you need that I may be able to help with?
  • Hello. Sorry for insisting and resurrecting this months old thread, but I still have to cite from dre.pt somewhat frequently and this would make my life much easier.

Is there any thing I can do to help make this happen (besides coding the import script, because I don't have the knowledge to do that)?
    Is there any information missing?
Is there something on the site that prevents this from being done so I should not expect Zotero to be able to recognize and import metadata from dre.pt automatically?

    Thank you
  • This would be a godsend. Currently doing my thesis and would be a lot easier if i could just cite from dre.pt directly.
Would contribute to make this happen in any way i can.
