problem od synchronisation with 2 files

Hello,
I have an unlimited account, and I have a recurrent problem with the synchronisation.
Everything works fine, except with 2 files, which take almost 1/2h to be synchronised.
I had for another reason to reinstall my windows system. And I still have these 2 files lagging behind to be sync.
They seem to be on the 2 sides (online and in my PC), but definitively online, as my zotero (PC's) worked perfectly before the first sync (after the system reinstalled).

I have tried, of course lots of things, to sort out the pb, without any success.
How can I detect these 2 problematical files in order to delete them for good and be able to use zotero on a daily basis.
I now use it very little, as the sync process with these last 2 files for more than 1/2h slow down my PC, (though with an I5 and a good processor) and heat it up a lot.

Many thanks for your help/solution to get rid of these 2 problematical files.

ps: just a thought: is it possible "to see" the weight of each file. I have a vague feeling that it could be some very heavy ones or corrupted ones; but finding them is like finding a fish in the ocean as I can not see any ways to order the files by size.

    The file is too big to upload.

    If you paste ZBV86GLB into the Zotero search bar in All Fields & Tags mode, and do right-click → Show File on the attachment that shows up, how big is it?

    Ok great, thank you so much, indeed, I cut and paste a file commenting a documentary with the documentary itself in a separate file (this particular one).
    It seems that I probably have another big one. As Zotero is struggling with 2 files.

    Is there any way to search the biggest files in this library? (and/or a way to ask not to sync these ones specifically?)

    It says the 8-character item key in the error message, which you can use to search for the attachment. You can also just use your OS to search for all files within your Zotero data directory and look at the name of the parent folder, which will be the same 8-character key.

    You can't sync files selectively, so you have to delete those two attachments and empty the trash. But you can first make a copy of those files, store them elsewhere on your computer, and add them as linked files.

    Many thanks for your help. I got rid of the biggest, (emtying the bin on both sides). There's obviously one more, not detected by debug id this time.

    If you're still having trouble, we'd need another Debug ID for a sync.

    No, that's a Report ID, with nothing in it. We need a Debug ID for a few minutes of a sync attempt.

    It's in the debug output. Debug output is for developers and isn't something you're expected to be able to read. The non-technical solution here would just be to do a search for the multi-gigabyte files in your storage folder.

    Dan, I have this same sync issue of files larger than 4 GB and have a related question about how the Zotero database tracks attachments. Will I corrupt the database if I just delete my oversize files directly through the Mac OS file system instead of going into the Zotero UI and deleting each attachment and then emptying the Zotero library's trash? I ask because the quickest solution would be to search for the 8 character ID on the file system and delete the files that way, while going into Zotero and tracking each one down is slower because of the size of my Zotero library. If using the file system risks corrupting the Zotero database, however, I won't want to go that route. Thanks for any clarification.

    @davidamichelson: If you already have the 8-character item key, you can just paste it into the Zotero search bar in All Fields & Tags mode to find the attachment in question.

    The reason to go through the filesystem would be if you wanted to use some external utility to find the multi-gigabyte files in your storage folder and delete them. If you do that, you won't corrupt the database, but you'll obviously end up with attachment items in your Zotero library with missing files. You can, however, sort by the Attachments column to find those attachments, press + to expand the parent items, and then fairly quickly go through and select the attachment items for deletion.

    In any case, I've created a ticket to add a button to the error dialog for this error to select the attachment in question.
