citation style

I am trying to find a Harvard citation style version which puts the citation into the text as (Berger, 1990) rather than (Berger, J. 1990). In the list of citation styles it appears that this is going to happen but when citation actually inserted it still appears as (Berger, J. 1990) which is not the format required by my university. I want to use Zotero but this is not the format I need.

    The cite bubble's style preview has nothing to do with the actual citation style.

    "(Berger, 1990)" is VERY common. For example try APA - American Psychological Association 7th edition. That style is already available to you in Zotero without installing it. Choose it under "Document Preferences".

    (Make sure you're data is correctly entered in Zotero, though, if you keep seeing Berger, J.)

    Thank you. I have discovered my error. I was putting the author’s initial into the same box as the surname hence it was coming out in the citation. I now know that I have two put the initials in the next box separately. Thanks.
