Notes when moving back and forth between iPad and Mac

On my iPad, I have been using Zotero to make notes on items in a library originally created on my Mac. When I go back to my Mac, the notes are there, but the standard practice for showing all of them does not seem to work. When I highlight an individual title, I can see any note I have attached, but I can't find a way to have Zotero indicate that that title, or any other one, has a note attached. Any tips?
