Zotero replicates bibliography hundreds of times when add citation

Whenever I add a new citation it takes about ten minutes, sometimes much longer, and when it finally adds the citation then the bibliography will get replicated hundreds of times, making my document 100 or 200 pages long. I have tried refreshing Zotero but it just causes my document and Zotero to crash. Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Does it happen in a new document? If not, then there is something in that document causing a problem, and you can probably isolate it by copying and pasting the content into a new document, or maybe just deleting the section containing the bibliography at the end and inserting a new bibliography.

    @lillyhurtado: What word processor? Can you provide a Debug ID from Zotero for this happening?
