Why can't I combine several items with the entry type "article from encyclopedia"?

Why can't I merge 2 entries that have the type "article from encyclopedia"? I get the message "only top-level items can be merged". But these are the top-level items. At the same time, if I change the record type to anything other than "article from encyclopedia", the application lets me merge them.

  • Can you take a screenshot that shows what you're seeing, upload it somewhere (e.g., Dropbox or Google Drive), and provide a link here?
  • dstillman, i added links to the pictures.

    I can't reproduce this.

Can you provide a Debug ID for trying to do this?

Does this happen if you disable all third-party plugins?

If you check your database integrity from the Advanced → Files and Folders pane of the Zotero preferences, does it pass? (If this is a new database, it's almost certainly not this.)
  • 1. Debug ID: D717714725
    2. Yes
    3. No errors were found in the database
  • I'm able to reproduce this.
  • @tony-grr: We've fixed this for the next beta, which should be out in the next few days. This would've only happened with recent installs, which is why I couldn't reproduce it. Thanks for reporting.
  • @tony-grr: This is now fixed in the latest beta.
  • Fixed now in Zotero 5.0.96.3
