Imported Library turned subtitles into "shortened titles"

I am transitioning from Papers3 to Zotero (ran into similar issues as discussed here
https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/77910/switching-to-zotero-from-papers
and was able to use the fix included to deal with the special characters problem). I've noticed that the data from subtitle field in Papers3 is now showing up in the "shortened title" field in Zotero.

Is there an efficient way to fix?

Thanks!
  • Could you export a minimal example (say, one item) from Papers 3 so that I can test this out? Put it on Google Drive or somewhere like that and post a link here.
  • Thanks. Sure.
    Here is the Papers3 endnote xml export for one such entry.

  • Hmm. This is unfortunately a problem on their side. The XML says in no uncertain terms:

    <titles>
    <title><style ...>Fighting King Coal</style></title>
    <short-title><style ...>The Challenges to Micromobilization in Central Appalachia</style></short-title>
    </titles>

    I could add what would essentially be a hack to the translator that looks for a <source-app> tag like <source-app name="Papers3" ...>Papers3</source-app> and treats <short-title> as a subtitle if it finds one, but it would be pretty gross and might cause problems if/when they fix the issue.

    For now, does the app have any other export formats you could use?
