Upgrade StorageOrganizing my collections and un-highlighted files moved instead?

Hoping somebody can help me here. I was organizing one of my collections this morning, moving things from more general to more specific folders. I'm holding shift while a move the items. Occasionally my highlighted item did not move. After doing this several times I realize that even when the item doesn't move my collection was getting shorter! I eventually was able to see that un-highlighted items were being removed from the collection.
Has anybody encountered this? Is there a way to find the un-highlighted items that left the collection? There is nothing new in trash or un-filed. My web collection had already sync'd by the time a logged in.

If an item was only in one collection and it was removed, it would show up in Unfiled Items. It wouldn't show up in the trash unless you deleted it.
Go to your library root, find one of the items, and see what collections it's in.
