IBZ should work with COinS, but isn't

IBZ = Internationale Bibliographie der geistes- und sozialwissenschaftlichen Zeitschriftenliteratur (an important German bibliography collecting articles of the humanities) http://gso.gbv.de/LNG=DU/DB=2.4/
Using the IBZ I got an symbol indicating that I can import an article, the roll-over reveals that COinS should be working, but starting the import only results in an empty red framed box in the lower right corner (e.g. http://gso.gbv.de/DB=2.4/SET=2/TTL=11/SHW?FRST=12)
Unfortunately the IBZ is not free to use, it can only be used if your university, library etc. got an account. So I am not sure if anybody can help me.
  • Perhaps you can view the source & copy the COinS in a <code> block here (it will start with: <span class="Z3988" title="......">
  • <span class="Z3988" title="ctx_ver=Z39.88-2004&rfr_id=info:sid/GBV:IBZ&rft_val_fmt=info%3Aofi%2Ffmt%3Akev%3Amtx%3Ajournal&rft.issn=0936-5796&rft.pages=58-72&rft.spage=58&rft.title=historische+mitteilungen.+hmrg.+im+auftrage+der+ranke-gesellschaft+hrsg&rft.volume=18&rft.ppn=028524896">
    </span>

    Could it be that COinS is refering to another source where the title of the article can be found and Zotero is not able to process that?
  • The span identifies the resource type as a journal article, but it does not include the article title. Zotero requires this field to be present.
  • This is strange, because the title of an article is quiet important for a bibliographic reference, isn't it? What could I do? Should I contact the editor of this bibliography and ask him for changes? Or would I ask to much?
  • An article title is not always cited & is not always needed to locate an article. IBZ is probably embedding COinS to allow the latter. Because of the former, perhaps Zotero's COinS translator should be modified (this has come up before).

    It does not hurt to contact IBZ & ask them to include the article title. Even if Zotero's COinS translator was improved, it would only scrape the information provided. If you want it to scrape the article title, you'd have to ask them to include it in the span.
