In-Text Citations are Updating/Refreshing but Bibliography is Not.

I'm writing a paper in Word and for a few citations, I originally left the 'Author' field blank. I went back and filled in those fields. When I refresh the document, the footnotes update but the bibliography does not (i.e. still shows blanks for the author field).

I tried the steps in the 'Troubleshooting Errors in Word Processor Documents' page. I think there must be some broken connection between the citations and bibliography but it doesn't seem consistently applied. I think this because when I copied the text to another document and switched styles (Chicago Note to APA) the bibliography was fixed but when I tried to switch it back to Chicago it reverted back to using the old incorrect fields. Any thoughts?

I'm using MacOS and Zotero 5.0.96.2

Does removing and re-adding bibliography help? If not, does removing every instance of the problematic item and then reinserting help? Does restarting Zotero help?
  • Note that Chicago manual styles use --- for repeated authors in the bibliography. Especially what you're describing for the new doc sounds like you might be seeing that?
  • Oh my gosh, you're so right; it was the Chicago issue. Thank you so much.
