Attached files deleted after software upgrade?

I've just updated Zotero software on my computer. After this, when trying to open most of my entries I get a message that says: "The attached file could not be found at the following path...". When I go to the relevant path on explorer I can only find .zotero-ft-cache file, but not the PDFs!
Could it be that my files were deleted by this update process?!
  • No, absolutely not. Updating Zotero has nothing to do with your Zotero data.

    Most likely you just added the files on another computer and they haven't synced to the computer you're using. See Files Not Syncing. Not that you're at your file sync quota, so files added elsewhere won't all have synced.

    This is very weird. I work only on one computer, locally. All my PDFs are uploaded only to this one computer, and they have been working fine (until now).
  • That would mean that you did something to your previous Zotero data directory — either that you deleted files in your data directory or accidentally switched to a different directory. See Locating Missing Zotero Data.

    Do you recall seeing a warning about syncing to an empty data directory?
