Upgrade StorageWord cannot communicate with Zotero

1) zotero is up and running
2) the Zotero menu is present and clickable in Word
i notice that
1) in Zotero|preferences|cite|word processors the panel shows only the choice for "classic add citation dialog"
2) in word, the zotero.dotm appears correctly as a "global template and add-in" in the path:
/Users/[username]/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/User Content.localized/Startup.localized/Word/Zotero.dotm

it appears that for me what worked was deleting extensions.json
