Zotero crashes when trying to update document

I am trying to refresh Zotero on a 266-page document. Every time I try to do this whether on my Macbook or a Windows laptop, the software keeps crashing. This is severely hindering my progress. I have tried reinstalling the software and this has made no difference. What is the problem?
  • Do you get any error messages or does Zotero closes completely? Have you tried thedebugging broken documents steps?
  • The document stops responding and then it tells me there has been an issue with Zotero. I have tried all the debugging suggestions. On my MacBook there is noting to indicate that Zotero is even trying to update the document. On a Windows laptop, there is at least a loading bar that then just says 'not responding' after a few minutes, and then when I attempt to close it, it tells me its is reporting the error.
  • How long did you wait on the Windows computer? You should allow to run it for at least half an hour. On the MacBook could you start Zotero with debug logging to the Terminal, run the refresh operation until it crashes, then copy and paste the results of the terminal pastebin or similar and send the link to the paste to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread?
  • @lioness1992: You can save just save the terminal output to a text file (File → Export Text As…), zip the text file (right-click → Compress), and email the zip file to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread.
