Adding Citation to Word Doc

I'm brand new to Zotero and I'm trying to figure out how to add citation in a word document at the end of the sentence. I have clicked add/edit citation and it only comes over as a footnote number (1). How do I add the text citation? I don't want a full bibliography in the body of my paper but I can't seem to figure this out. Below is an example of what it looks like but I don't want it as a footnote. The 1 is tiny and clearly a footnote. Please help as I'm really struggling here.

  • You need to select a different citation style from the Document Preferences window in the Zotero tab in Word. You’ve selected a numeric style. Choose an author-date style like APA or Chicago (author-date).
