Zotero doesn't start with Word

Hello,

I'm using MS Office Word 365 student version, I've already used zotero for a year and didn't have any issue.
But since, I rebooted my computer and yesterday I tried to install zotero to using it with word.
Zotero installation is OK, I've been able to link my account and get back all my folders, but it doesn't linked with word.
The add-in is recognize by Word, I can access to the Zotero tab in word but when I try to add a citation, I see an error message.
Zotero.dotm is installed in my startup folder and when i run the file, I can use zotero well with word.
Can someone help me to make word run the file itself ? I cheked the options in Word and the startup folder match with the folder where zotero.dotm is intalled.

Thank you.

  • when I try to add a citation, I see an error message
What error message? Can you provide a Report ID?
  • Nope, no Report ID.

    In french it said
    "Erreur d'intégration de Zotero
Zotero a rencontré une erreur lors de la mise à jour de votre document."
    Wich mean ish :
    "Zotero's integration error
Zotero meant an error during the update of your document"
  • No, we need a Report ID. I linked to instructions.
  • Indeed, sorry for misunderstanding.

[JavaScript Error: "An unhandled exception occured. [getDocument:\vboxsvr\adomas\zotero\word-for-windows-integration\build\zoterowinwordintegration\document.cpp]"]
  • That's still not a Report ID.
  • ID : 792588118
  • Does it work in a completely new document?

If so, see Troubleshooting Errors in Word Processor Documents for your existing document.

If not, check to make sure you're not running either Zotero or Word as Administrator:

    https://superuser.com/questions/1213101/check-if-an-app-is-running-as-admin
  • It was with all documents.

I tried to run Word as administrator but I didn't try with Zotero, this fixed the trouble. I feel very stupid...
Thank you for your help !
  • No, I'm saying the opposite. Neither should be run as Administrator. You need to fix things so that neither is running as Administrator when you start them normally.
  • Indeed, when I run both programs without the adminstrator's rights, it also work.
But I think I configured Word to always run as administrator sometimes ago because I encoutered some issues without it. I can't remember why and when I did that, but for now I will disable the admin's rights, and if I've got new issues I'll try to fix Word.
Unless you think that's not the right thing to do ?
  • You shouldn't run any programs as administrator — it's a security risk.
  • Ok. Thank you for advising and helping
