Sentences are duplicated when using a group library in a shared word doc

We were writing a group paper for school. Most individual parts of the paper were finished when the person writing the first part of the paper (introduction) started writing with in text citations. This immediately created version conflicts in word for everyone, because the numbers of the in text citations increased continously. Even when accepting or declining the changes, all sentences which had an in text citation were duplicated which made it very! tedious to delete all these duplicates. Is this problem known? What could we have done to prevent this problem. Is it even possible to work simultaneously in a shared work document which is saved on a microsoft sharepoint and then edited using the windows word app (microsoft office software) in combination with a zotero group library? Thank you for your answers
  • We have not tested collaborating on Word thoroughly, but it should generally work fine as long as multiple users are not making big edits to the document at the same time. Does any one of you work on a Mac?
  • Yes, several group members are working on a Mac. One of the main reasons for choosing zotero was that it was available for windows and Mac.
  • We have had some issues with the Mac plugin recently corrupting citations, for users working individually. It is hard to tell whether what you're describing is related or something else caused by collaborative editing. It would be best if you could note exactly what steps which user took before the document corruption and describe them here. If you can provide snippets of the document to support@zotero.org where the problem can be reproduced that might also help in debugging this.
