How not to duplicate storage of pdf/attachment for each member of a group?
Hi,
We are a small company (20 persons) in need of a database and reference management software with the purpose of literature to be shared, stored and easily accessed by each person of the R&D department. I am familiar with the excellent Zotero features working only with my own libraries but I had never used groups before.
The idea is that Zotero should be used by ~10 researchers with the purpose to read and upload files to a “main library” containing all our files.
1) I created an account with unlimited storage access.
2) I created a private group (containing all the references with the pdf attached) with my collaborators.
3) My collaborators can access the group through the standalone Zotero , but as soon as synchronization occurs, all attached pdf are saved on the computer of each collaborators. That means that our 7 Go library will be duplicated as many times as collaborators number.
My question is : Is there a way that each group member can access (and add documents) to the group library without having all the attachment saved on each member computer?
Is there a smarter way to exploit Zotero and to share and upload literature in our case? if you have any suggestionsit would be truly appreciated.
Thanks a lot!
Pauline

I have a similar situation : I have used Zotero for my own research but never with a group. I would really like to setup a Zotero group for my new workplace. We are 12 people collecting information and doing research, which means we will need to share and add notes to the documents collected.
Our institution has set up a OneDrive/Sharepoint work environment where we are asked to keep all data.
As far as I understand, there is no way to use a Zotero group library with documents located on such a shared drive. Is this correct ?
Thanks,
Fannie
